Figment 2009: All the details

9 June 2009 No Comment

What are you bringing to FIGMENT?

A costume?  Twister?  A picnic?  Your friends?  A frisbee? Cupcakes?

We’re in the final countdown, and while you can find everything at http://www.FIGMENTnyc.org, we wanted to make sure you have all the info you need. Season-long art has already been installed on Governors Island, and our mini-golf team reports that kids were so enthusiastic to play that they helped install the course last weekend!

When you arrive at FIGMENT, you’ll have the opportunity to experience 400 art pieces, projects, and performances… with only one common theme:  you are asked to participate, create, and engage!

FIGMENT is absolutely free to the public, rain or shine, and will be open:

Friday, June 12:  10 am – 5 pm
Saturday, June 13:  10 am – 7 pm
Sunday, June 14:  10 am – 7 pm

…in addition, the City of Dreams will be open on weekends until mid-October with a large-scale interactive sculpture garden and an artistic mini-golf course.

Here are some quick links for you:

Getting There:  Governors Island is easy to reach from both lower Manhattan and Brooklyn’s Fulton Ferry Landing.  The ferry is free, fast, and runs frequently!

What to Bring:  Remember to bring drinking water and a picnic lunch… And you can check our site for other recommendations.

Map, Schedule, Projects, & Artists:  There will be a lot going on at FIGMENT, so you may want to prepare yourself for what you want to see and do. We’ll have maps and schedules up around the island, but please note that in order to conserve natural resources, we do not print out maps or schedules for participants.

Other Questions?  Check our our FAQs.

Lastly, while FIGMENT is absolutely free to the public and is staffed entirely by volunteers, we are deeply appreciative of all the help we can get.
