FIGMENT is a unique arts opportunity for New York in so many ways… not only does it provide a completely free and wildly interactive experience for New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds, but it asks every single person who comes to FIGMENT to get involved in some way or another, either by making art, bringing an activity, or helping to make the event happen.  We don’t want you to just attend and watch… we want you to participate! And with 400+ art pieces and other interactive projects at FIGMENT, there will be countless ways to participate during the event.

But now, with an unprecedented number of people expected to come to FIGMENT, we also need help from an unprecedented number of volunteers.  If you have free time to help out in the next two weeks before FIGMENT, or if you’re able to help out at the event — your involvement can help make FIGMENT a success.  And, for people who volunteer one full day or more, you will receive a limited edition 2009 orange FIGMENT volunteer t-shirt, which can’t be bought for money.  You have to volunteer your time and energy to earn it!

PS:  Volunteer opportunities are wide-reaching, and some of our top-priority needs before the event include helping build event infrastructure, decorating the ferry waiting room and ferry, preparing and hanging important signage, and helping install art from June 5th onward.  At the event, we need help greeting and interacting with the public (answering questions, directing participants, etc.), with our leave no trace team, on our children’s activities team, with running our indoor exhibition space, and in so many other ways!
